"Gold-D Food for Thought" is a program to explore and share insights on animal welfare and animal-human issues. Each topic is represented by a donut.
The issue of black cats and dogs is represented by the black donut.
Black cats and dogs have been subjected to prejudices and unfairly associated with various superstitions. As a result, rescuers face challenges when rehoming black cats and dogs.
This attitude is unfair to black cats and dogs and deprives them of the love they deserve.
In issue 2 of the Gold-D Magazine, we have explored this issue with 13 rescue groups from around the world. We also shared how our recue cats and dogs accept and love new siblings who are black.
In 2021, we produced the award winning “Year of the dog” exploring the challenges that our adopted dog Molly faced as a senior big and black dog.
Now, we want to address the prejudice against black cats and dogs from a cultural, social and rescue perspective.
Our hope is for people to see black cats and dogs as fellow beings to be loved and cared for. Not animals to avoid!
