Robin was a Singapore community cat living on the grounds of a high-end condominium. The residents liked her, and the staff looked after her.
Everything went well until the arrival of a new family who bought a unit in the condominium. The owner came by to inspect his new property and saw Robin.
Get Lost!
He demanded that Robin be removed from the condominium. Out of concern for Robin’s wellbeing, the staff tried to plead with the new owner.
However, his stand was, he paid a lot of money for his condo, and he paid the monthly maintenance fee so he has a right to demand that the cat disappear. He gave the ultimatum that when he moves in and the cat is still around, he will take matters in his own hand. In Singapore, he usually means calling the authorities and the cat will be put to sleep the next day.
Rescuing Robin
We decided to rescue Robin and managed to trap her. As we were working on it, a man was watching nearby with a grin. We assumed he was a resident concerned about Robin but it turns out he is the rich guy who demanded that Robin’s removal.
At the vet, Robin was tested positive for FIV and Felv. We decided to adopt her anyway and to give her a room of her own.
RIP
On the first night in her new home, Robin probably felt safe and loved. She did not have to watch out for dangers anymore. She relaxed and breathed her last.
Although we were unable to look after her, at least we gave her a safe, comfortable, and loving place to depart.
This is one of those crazy rich Asian stories except that in this case, it’s a rich Asian who is crazy. |
