In 2017, we received a collection of cat photos from our Penang based friend Ronnie.
This collection of photos was the work of Keith Stevens, a British civil servant who spent several decades in the Far East. The photos show cats across the 1970s Hong Kong urban landscape.
We quickly realized this as the earliest and most comprehensive collection of cat ethnographic data in Hong Kong and Asia!
They offer opportunities to understand the human feline relationship, and it is a story that is waiting to be told.
Photo world tour
In 2018, we curated the world tour of the “Cats of Keith Steven” photo exhibition.
Launched in Singapore, the exhibition traveled to Hong Kong and Penang. The plans for UK was on hold due to Covid.

We continue to study the collection and are amazed with all the new information that emerged and more importanlty, the signifance of this collection.
In 2021, we decided to produce a documentary to document the production and signifance of this collection.
This documentary pays tribute to Keith, cat rescuers and animal lovers in Hong Kong and around the world.
