After we adopted Bobo, we wanted a companion for her, so we decided to adopt another dog.
We contact a Singapore shelter, Just for Paws. We told the shelter we prefer a senior dog and a breed or a color that has a lower chance of adoption.
The shelter suggested six years old Molly as she is black and quite a big dog.
Molly used to have a home but was abandoned and later captured by the authorities. If no shelters can take her, she will be put to sleep. To prevent this from happening, Just for paws took her in. While at the shelter, Molly has many friends and was cared for and loved.
Upon their recommendation, we went to meet Molly at the shelter, and soon, she came over for a home trial. The cats were rather wary of Molly, but it was clear that Molly was making an effort to make friends.
Molly is a very sweet girl and got along very well with Bobo. She was also very affectionate, sweet, and well behaved. Her friendly personality also helped her to connect with the cats, especially Molly who often groom her.
After the end of the home trial, we invite Molly to be part of our family, and she agreed. We signed the formal adoption documents, and Molly became part of our family.
Thanks to the shelter, Molly’s life was saved. Black dogs are less popular and less likely to be adopted but similar to dogs of any color or breed; they are just as affectionate and precious.
We are very privileged to have this opportunity to love and care for Molly.
We are producing a documentary "Year of the Dog" exploring the stories of Molly and Singapore Specials.
